What a journey!

My greatest joy since joining in 2011 would have to be leading my area to #1 in North America and 2nd in the World for club and membership growth as Area Governor. 233% Growth. Boy, I sure am proud of that. That year our Area Council set out to create the new Division D. We were tired of being an isolated area with only one DTM opportunity per year. Not only that, there was only one DTM in Southern Indiana and NW Kentucky. John Michael O'Leary, DTM. All we needed was 7 clubs to move from a small isolated area to a whole new division to give us 4 opportunities a year for DTM awards. At years end we had to settle for 5 clubs and a new area. But we didn't stop. Our club building teams continued marching, even against the negative force of the past culture, until we became division strength. Even though we didn't pull off the 7th new club by June 30th, we did end the year as Presidents Distinguished Area, Presidents Distinguished Division, adding a whole new area of clubs, and only 2 clubs shy of being division strength.

We were so thankful for the Toastmasters International President who got involved with our club growth explosion. He was our special guest via video at our double charter party banquet and Golden Mic Awards Ceremony. Check this out:

As Area Governor our team successfully hosted the Fall Conference. Eight months earlier, think about that. . . 8 months earlier. . . there was no way an isolated Area of 5 clubs would have been considered to host the Fall Conference. But through our explosive growth, we pulled it in. Our Area Council PR team put together this infomercial that we loved sharing throughout the district.

As Vice President of Membership at Crescent City Toastmasters I absolutely loved leading our club from 15 members to 40 members in under 6 months. Presidents Distinguished and over 250% growth in membership.

As President of the Best Side Toastmasters Club we started the year with 3 members. By years end we were Presidents Distinguished with a strong growth in membership.

My journey in Toastmasters will be shared right here. The trials and successes, the bitterness and the healing. I hope my journey will assist you in your Toastmasters Journey. It will be all worth it as you grow while being face to face with the challenges of leadership in action.
